Major jewelry industry trends to watch for in 2010
The best investment bankers excel at two things: observation and interpolation, which together yield the ability to make predictions. I am flattered that National Jeweler asked me to predict the most influential trends impacting the U.S. jewelry industry in 2010, relieved that I was able to do so after the first 90 days of the year and pleased to have tapped into the opinions of a number of …

Match Your Jewellery to Your Style

Jewellery has played an important role in fashion for a long time now. Indeed, whether it is used to define an outfit, or is worn as a symbol of someone else’s affection, millions of people around the world own and wear pieces of jewellery.

The first known examples of jewellery date back 75,000 years to the Homo sapiens living in Africa: researchers found beads made from perforated snail shells in a place called Blombos Cave. Since then, jewellery has been worn for a variety of different reasons, including to flaunt wealth, act as a form of protection against evil spirits and as an artistic display.

Today, the industry is a lucrative one, boasting a huge range of contemporary and antique jewellery. As a result, there is a breathtaking selection of rings, bracelets, earrings and necklaces to choose from, meaning it is easy to build up a personalised and unique jewellery collection. Not only that, but with the variety available, it is simple to create a number of individual looks to suit your style.

Take Pandora jewellery, as a prime example. Having started off as a small shop in 1982 in Copenhagen, Denmark, it has grown to become a massive multi-national company, which operates in over 20 countries and specialises in personalised jewellery.

One of the biggest advantages of Pandora jewellery is that people can create their own pieces, such as necklaces and bracelets, in order to make individual pieces that match both their mood and their style. Additionally, because the designs are interchangeable, the pieces can be altered whenever you want a new look.

In fact, you can choose everything from what type and length of chain you want –the recommended length for a bracelet is 19 to 20 cm, whilst a necklace is 45 cm – to how many beads and charms are added.

So, if you want to make a charm bracelet, for instance, you can decide whether you want to opt for sterling silver or 14ct gold, as well as which type of clasp you would like to fasten it with. Then you can choose from over 800 different charms and trinkets to really personalise your bracelet. They range from sterling silver and 14ct gold charms to gemstones and murano glass beads. To highlight a particular stone or to add more definition to the piece, spacers can also be used.

The Pandora jewellery collection offers up a great example of how you can uniquely match your jewellery to your style. With versatility being its main selling point, women of all ages can make the most of their jewellery by tailoring and adapting it to fit in with both their wardrobe and their personality. And, because charms or beads can be added at any time, they also make great gifts.

Giving Mom the Gift She Deserves on Mother’s Day

In a world where change is fairly consistent and expected, one needs an anchor to be stable through troubling times. For most of us, this anchor is known as ‘MOM,’ or ‘WIFE’. We know that they will always be there for us when we fall, whenever we succeed, or even motivate us on our ways to achieve greatness. They are a source of inspiration as well as our link to life. How then are we even able to honor them in the manor that they deserve?

One way to show our love for our mothers is by giving them their very own holiday. This holiday is known as Mother’s Day. Mother’s day is a way to show increased appreciation for our special loved ones who deserve great praise daily. Some great ideas to show our increased appreciation are as follows: get her a gift, treat her to breakfast in bed ( a classic), do her chores for the day (and if you want more brownie points continue to do them all year long), and finally make her feel like the queen she is.

Getting Mom the gift she deserves is vital to expressing your love and admiration for her. It shows her how much you pay attention to her and genuinely care about her. Selecting this gift, however, is no simple easy task. The gift highly depends upon her taste and interests. If you know your mom likes jewelry, get her some personalized jewelry (such as a personalized Trollbeads bracelet). If your Mother loves home decorations, you could get her some Willow Tree Angels. If your Mother is into reading, get her a border’s gift card. If your Mother loves dining and a show, take her out to dinner and then to a Broadway caliber production. Her gift should be personable and specialized to fit her individual interest and needs.

Finally, you should aid in making your Mother feeling like the queen she is on her day. Performing house hold chores, not arguing or fighting with siblings, and keeping harmony in your house are great ways to show your love for her. Also, it is a great idea to cook her dinner if you are able (order out or go out to eat if you are not culinary art savvy). You want to make sure that she sees your charity for her in the same way she has shown hers towards you.

Mothers are very important to our lives. They help shape, enlighten, and motivate our personalities for the better. They are the all wise, as well as the all merciful. Let us truly shown them how much they actually mean to us on their personal Holiday.
